Hinged Window

AirCrafters constructed a lightweight, high strength carbon fiber window frame for a Lancair Legacy.

The frame is hinged on the upper and lower interior edges.  This feature allows the window to hinge inward or be completely removed.  Hinged from the top, loading baggage is much easier through the window as opposed to lifting and twisting over the seat back.

An added benefit is that the window can be quickly removed from the inside should the canopy be unable to open.

The frame uses the stock Legacy side window and fits tight enough that a thin silicone gasket will prevent leaking.

Don's window frame installation turned out great. These pictures show Don's window open and closed. Note the fillet he applied to the window itself to trim the area adjacent to the fuselage opening. Nice work, Don!

Lancair Legacy Window Trim Rings

AirCrafters now provides interior trim rings for our removable window OR the standard bonded Legacy window.

The rings are lightweight, vacuum bagged fiberglass parts similar in appearance to the window frame, but not quite as heavy duty.  They are about 4 inches wide, except on the leading edge which is about 2 inches wide.  They can be trimmed to whatever size the builder or interior shop needs, and unlike aluminum rings will fit the compound curve of the fuselage perfectly.  The finish will be smooth and ready for paint or upholstery.  Price is $289 each (left OR right), for framed or bonded windows.
